Sichuan’s Carbamide Output to Drop

(May23)--Sichuan Province is one of China’s main carbamide production bases, accounting for more than 7% of China’s total carbamide output in 2007 and producing 948,000t in the first three months of 2008. Given that Sichuan’s carbamide enterprises all suspended production for one week, its carbamide output will decline by 70,000-80,000t. Sichuan Chemical Industry Holding (Group) Corporation Ltd. is Sichuan’s largest carbamide producer with annual production capacity of 2.5mt of carbamide. The company’s Chengdu production plant was near to the earthquake epicenter and is expected to suspend production for 40-50 days.
