(July 21)--According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, of the five industries that generated the highest profits in China in the first half of 2008, the chemical raw materials and products industry took the first place, indicating that the oil-related industries all posted considerably high profits thanks to the higher oil prices. Insiders further attributed the significant profits to the middle-stream chemical enterprises’ stronger cost shifting capacity compared to the downstream textile enterprises.
