CPhI Worldwide started in 1990 as an international convention on pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates. The first CPhI Worldwide in 1990 attracted 250 visitors for 16 companies, while nowadays 20.000 industry professionals visit some 1.200 exhibiting companies from over 110 countries in the world. CPhI is the leading exhibition on pharmaceutical ingredients and allied industries. Every year the exhibition becomes larger with exhibitors and visitors doing business at CPhI. It is the perfect opportunity to develop new business contacts and to maintain existing relationships.

CPhI shows are now held in Europe (CPhI Worldwide), in China (CPhI China), in Tokyo, Japan (CPhI Japan), and in Mumbai, India (CPhI India) to cover the world market!

CPhI Japan is the biggest pharmaceutical ingredients exhibition held in Japan, can only partly explain its success. It's the combination of high quality organization and a high quality targeted audience that makes CPhI so appealing to companies to participate in this high profile event. The success in attracting such a large number of potential Japanese business-partners makes CPhI Japan especially compelling for companies from other parts of the world, since it provides them with a platform to:

- Introduce their company to the Japanese market

- Reinforce their company's position in the Japanese market

- Bolster Japanese partner/distributor marketing activity

- Launch new products in the Japanese market

- Make new contacts and expand their Japanese network

And all this through making contact with Japanese companies that you will NOT meet at CPhI Worldwide!

JAPAN - The Worlds' second largest pharmaceutical market

Japan is the second largest drug market in the world with an ethical pharmaceuticals market worth almost $65 billion, representing 13% of the world total. Some 1,400 pharmaceutical manufacturing companies employ over 200,000 people and account for 2% of Japan's total manufacturing output by value. Significantly, it is one of the few high-tech industries in Japan that runs a trade deficit - currently around $3 billion per annum.

Revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Law Triggers Production Review

In response to the revision of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law in Japan in July 2002, the current "manufacturing approval system" will be replaced by the "sales approval system". This is leading to an increasing number of pharmaceutical manufacturers seeking production alliances. As a result the pharmaceutical outsourcing is set to grow as the sales approval system will enable manufactures to virtually totally outsource production.
CPhI Japan offers the best business meeting place for outsourcing companies to present their technique, service and products into vast Japanese pharmaceutical market.

One of the biggest pharmaceutical meeting places in Japan

The CPhI Japan exhibition is very successful in attracting large number of potential Japanese business partners. Last edition featured more than 450 exhibiting companies and over 12,000 visitors! This year Japanese companies will be EXTREMELY EAGER to do business with foreign producers and manufactures in the field of pharmaceutical ingredients; with the new pharmaceutical affairs law (PAL) in place, they can freely outsource their production process.
